I took my sons to my favorite coffee shop today, the Starlight Cafe. I had to meet someone next door to it, and the cafe is very kid-friendly (thank you Carri!), so I thought it would be fun to pop in and chill for a while with some juice and cookies.
I knew Ethan was tired. [...]

You remember that Christmas tree in the photo a few days ago? It’s gone. Well, actually, it’s halfway gone. It is actually standing in the doorway beside me as I type. See?
I have been stuck lately, and I can’t seem to get unstuck. Maybe this will help.
Motherhood Uncensored recently wrote about having to always be [...]

Motherhood
Two mommy bloggers I follow both posted some similar opinions on the same day. Their topics were totally different, but their points of view are the same: there is no one-size-fits-all answer to any kind of parenting question.
In Misplaced Musings‘ post, the issue was homeschooling, and the question “How do homeschoolers get socialized?” came up. [...]

Mental Stability,
Motherhood
I want to stay home. I really do. But somehow, between getting the teenager to work, the four year old to school and OT, and me to my own therapy (which includes, on occasion, knitting at the Starlight Cafe), I end up in the van. A lot.
Sometimes it’s just a distraction from the difficulty of [...]

“Too wet to go out
And too cold to play ball.
So we sat in the house.
We did…”

Mental Stability,
Motherhood
The other day I had the distinct pleasure of being able to say the following words to my teenager with a straight face:
“You had a healthier emotional upbringing than that.”
The conversation started because her on again off again boyfriend is back, and the girl he dated in the interim is none too happy. She caused [...]

I was just asked if the bean extravaganza was worth it. I have to say, I kinda think so, even though the baby kept crying because they were hurting his feet this morning (could this be classified as torture?), so I swept them up at which point the four year old came in. [...]

As I sit to type this, my 18 month old is being entertained by the 4 year old, who is throwing Boggle pieces at the ceiling vajh./,.
Sorry, one just landed on my hand. Anyway, he is attempting to roll an ‘E’, at which point he will be ‘the winner’.
It’s fine, really, since the Boggle frame [...]

If this stuff doesn’t make it all worth it, I don’t know what will.
First:
Me to 4 year old E: I love you.
E: Why does Elise always want to MARRY me??
Me: Hunh?
E: She always does it and I don’t know why. We’re just little kids!
Me (in my head): I surely don’t know. Why indeed.
On a less [...]

Motherhood
Conversation I had with four year old E. upon his receipt of an invitation to a (girl) classmate’s birthday party:
E: Why did she invite me?
Me: Because you’re her friend.
E: No I’m not. Well, I kind of am. But when Adam and Jack want me, I’m kinda not. But when she wants me…
I go to her.
