Where We Go From Here
Dearest Friends,
After pursuing, luring and wooing you to my blog over the last year, I find myself now in a state of flux, of directionless wandering. I premised this site on my own dysfunction, my conjunction junction, my joie de viva Las Vegas, but now I feel I am pulled in too many directions and don’t know which way to turn.
My little family began our homeschooling adventure last week, and I am quite taken up with that, as well as my doula business, which is how I justify purchasing the nifty classroom helps I am enjoying.
I will continue to write, but rather than become the dreaded “mommy blogger,” it is my intention to use this as a training ground for creative writing. Look forward to poetry, short stories, flash fiction, creative non-fiction, and descriptive prose. I also plan to reinstate Fiber Friday with fiber art projects and recycled wool ideas. While I may write more infrequently, I intend to keep you mesmerized with my word skills.
In addition to the writing, I will feature local business write-ups on a separate, soon-to-be-linked page. These are not for pay, but simply to highlight Central Virginia sources of products and services in our area, because I believe so strongly in using most of my spending power locally.
I pondered whether to let you know what I was doing, but a person wouldn’t just shift gears suddenly without informing her friends, and I’ve grown to think of you as just that – my friends in this weird internet world.
You all have no idea what your words and input have meant to me over the last several months. I can never repay you, but I can continue to entertain and occasionally move you. I hope this will be enough.
Yours Truly,
Jennifer Love Monroe (aka Barely Knit Together)

It’s darn (yarn) hard to keep up blogging while attempting to earn a living/raise a family/not go insane. I know (although I have failed miserably on at least the last count, possibly the second, too).
It will be nice to have you in any form, and all writing is good. I am now off to make the diaper – I figure it might allow me to stay at my computer for a few more vital minutes every day.
Jennifer, I had no idea that you were in Lynchburg. My dh and I are Liberty students and we are moving there in January 2010. Small world…
Good luck with your homeschooling and blogging, etc… maybe we can meet up someday…
Deborah
I’m looking forward to your new direction. You’re a talented writer who I always enjoy reading.
Tks for calling me your friend! I always love to read you and I’ll keep on checking for the new stuff!
Good luck and lots of energy toward your new direction!
Your friend,
Ivan
I’ve crossed a similar Rubicon with my blog and have done more photo things of late. Whatever it takes…we’ll be here. All the best, FJ.
I’d follow you anywhere hun. Just do what moves you!
Wowsers BarelyKnit!
I cant wait for you to start your new ventures, they sound so exciting!
Congratulations and Good Luck!
Bob
I’m with Scott.
I’m also the monkey on your back that you never knew you had…
ps. I just re-read what I wrote and realized I should clarify…
I meant that I’d follow your words wherever they lead.
(See? That’s why I like Twitter…you can “delete” and start over…)
Well, I was actually enjoying the idea of you on my back like a monkey. And I can only imagine the effect that image might have on certain of my readers who might like monkeys a lot. But if you want to recant, that’s fine. I’ll allow it. My kingdom, my rules, sweetheart.
Looking forward to more of your creative writing, girl…*and* the write ups about local businesses. May your endeavors be fulfilling…
Your fellow Virginian,
Sweats Model
It must be in the air, so many of you/us are looking at what we do and trying to juggle. I’ve just read today’s post as well and wholeheartedly support your work. It’s affirming to be able to state one’s intentions. I’ll continue to read and am really looking forward to the fiction/nonfiction works.
